Happy New Year!! You may have noticed that over the holiday weekend I was a little absent from the blogging world! There’s an exclamation point after that sentence for a reason. After about two weeks of sharing a new blog post every day and constantly being on my phone, I was exhausted and felt disconnected from the real world.
I wasn’t really planning on coming up with a New Year’s resolution this year, but on NYE as the clock approached midnight I changed my mind. I was at a party with some of my best friends and I was thinking about when/what I should post on Instagram when I realized that by being so focused on blogging on all time I sometimes miss out on the moments that make life so special.
Before I knew it, I said, “Tonight I’m not a blogger, I’m just Kendall.” As I put my phone aside, one of my guy friends who is not a phone/social media addict like myself couldn’t believe what I had just said. If you know me, blogging is pretty much on my mind 24/7 so to say this out loud was a pretty big deal. To cut to the chase, I spent the rest of the night having fun with my friends and enjoying the moment. I so wish I could relive it because it was so much fun.
That leads to my resolution…this year I plan to take “blogger breaks” and live more in the moment. While I will continue writing weekly posts and sharing parts of my life per usual, I don’t want my entire life to be defined by being a blogger. Sure, it is a huge part, but it isn’t everything…
If you’re a blogger reading this, I encourage you to take some blogger breaks this year. Of course doing this doesn’t mean you have to completely disconnect, but in the right moments make the decision to put the phone aside and live. Make the choice to separate yourself from your blog. Take time to just be you.
If you’re one of my readers, I encourage you too to make the decision to put away your phone and enjoy the moment.
I know this post was way longer and more serious than my usual posts, but I felt the need to share!
Thanks for reading!
xoxo Kendall
