We all have received invitations to those types of events and by those I mean the events or parties that don’t seem casual, but also don’t seem dressy. This can leave you in a serious outfit dilemma, am i right?! That’s why today I want to share my go-to dressed up, but not dressy look.
To start, I always pick out a dress that I think is appropriate for the situation. What I love is that most dresses can be dressed up or down just by pairing them with different shoes and different accessories. This beautiful blue and white-toned dress that I’m wearing is more of a silky material, which (although you can’t tell from the picture) makes it seem more dressy. To make it more appropriate for a laid back event, I chose to add my favorite clutch and wear simple nude sandals and gold jewelry.
I suggest keeping the accessories more on the neutral side, staying away from bright colors and bold pieces. Simpler items make the look seem more effortless, like you just threw the beautiful look together (even though us ladies know that it can take forever to pick out an outfit…). Lastly, when wearing a casual, but dressed up outfit, wear your hair in the style that you most commonly wear it, which for me is straightened. This will allow your outfit to stand out, but people will not think that you took hours getting ready for a more casual event.
